A large-scale site-specific installation by artist Doug Aitken will serve as the venue for Saint Laurent’s menswear show in Venice, the Kering-owned brand said in a statement.
The work commissioned by the brand’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello will be accessible to the public from the July 14 show through the end of the month, presented as part of the Venice Biennale of Architecture.
Under Vaccarello, Saint Laurent has used destination shows to highlight its menswear outings, including events in New York City and Malibu Beach.
Venice will also serve as the backdrop to Valentino’s haute couture show by Pierpaolo Piccioli in July. Designer Rick Owens, too, has been showing his collections in the city’s Lido island in recent seasons.
