The 25-year-old “Call Me By Your Name” actor will serve as a co-host of this year’s even alongside singer Billie Eilish, poet Amanda Gorman and tennis player Naomi Osaka, as well as honorary chairs designer Tom Ford, head of Instagram Adam Mosseri and Condé Nast content officer Anna Wintour. Last month, Vogue announced its much-anticipated gala — which was cancelled in 2020 because of the pandemic — would be an in-person gathering occurring on Sept. 13. As in years past, it will be held in conjunction with the launch of a new exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s exhibition theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and will showcase American fashion and look at the role of dress in identity.

All of the co-hosts have garnered attention for their connection to fashion. Chalamet regularly makes headlines for his red carpet looks by the likes of Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Haider Ackermann and Alexander McQueen, while Eilish challenges the expectations around a pop star’s wardrobe with oversize “anti-fashion” looks. Tennis champion Osaka wears irreverent, colourful pieces on and off the court, and Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman’s ensemble at President Joe Biden’s inauguration was a topic of conversation.
