The PVH-owned brand will also work with the Fashion and Race Database (FRD), an online educational resource that highlights underrepresented people and narratives in fashion history, the company announced Wednesday, February 10. Tommy Hilfiger will fund FRD to create a study called “The Unsung History of American Sportswear” to examine the influence of Black American culture on the label’s styles over the years.
With Harlem’s Fashion Row, Tommy Hilfiger will sponsor the organisation’s Digital Fashion Summit taking place later this month. Levi’s and AEO Inc., parent to the American Eagle and Aerie brands will also sponsor the event.
As part of Wednesday’s announcement, the company also said it will launch a capsule collection with actor Indya Moore and designer Romeo Hunte.
The partnerships will launch through Tommy Hilfiger’s People’s Place Program, created last July to promote minority communities within the fashion industry.
